04-26-2011: MilSciFi.com interviews filmmaker Jean-Christophe
Laborde creator of the fan film Stargate
Pegasus.
MilSciFi: "Welcome. Please tell us a little
about yourself."
Laborde: "My name is Jean-Christophe
LABORDE. I've 23 years old. I've joined the Stargate PEGASUS venture in August
2009 and I'm the 3d responsible. In other words I'm in charge of modeling,
texturing, animating and rendering of all the 3D scenes or objects which will
be used in Stargate Pegasus"
MilSciFi: "What inspired you to make this
film?"
Laborde:
"One of the biggest goal we want to reach is to create a good story, with a
guideline, and not only few episodes without any link between them, as we can
see in many fanfilms, even the better. In that way, I think we make something
different, something much longer, but, of course, much difficult. We also hope
that people who will see the episodes will accept fact the first one, the
pilot, will include a lot of dialogue and just few parts of action, because,
like any other pilots, it is there to set the story and introduce the
characters and other elements."
MilSciFi: "How was this film produced, such
as what type of equipment did you use for the feature photography, and then for
post production special effects?"
Laborde: "In term of equipment for the
moment we use only conventional device. We have 2 Digital HD camera (handycam
style), but it's planned to create a homemade steadycam to increase the quality
of the shots, and maybe later a microphone because we have some trouble with
the sound. In term of software we use the Adobe CS5 package with Alter effects
an photoshop for FX an matte painting, 3DSmax 2011 64 bit for 3D and Sony vegas
for editing. We also have a 3m x 3m green screen."
MilSciFi: "What advice would you give someone
who is thinking about doing a fan film."
Laborde: "You have to be patient, realistic
about your capacities, and gather a good team who have a minimum of skill and
serious."
MilSciFi: "Thank you, for your time."
